Visiting the Dentist
Coming to the dentist is not something to be scared of. Dentists are here to help us take care of our teeth so they last us a lifetime.
When you come to see the dentist, they will check your teeth, your bite, your gums, your jaw and the rest of your mouth to make sure you have a healthy mouth.
The dentist will talk to you about looking after your teeth and gums, eating healthy to keep your teeth healthy, as well as answer any questions you or your parents have about looking after your mouth.
Brushing your teeth
When you have finished eating, the bacteria in your mouth breaks down the sugar from your food into acids that eat away at the tooth enamel, causing cavities.
This is why it's important to brush your teeth twice a day. In the morning after breakfast, and at night before bed to get rid of all the yucky and furry stuff on your teeth.
If you don't clean it off your teeth, it can cause smelly breath, sore gums and painful cavities in your teeth, making eating meals difficult.
